 Geothermal Energy

What is geothermal energy? The earth absorbs roughly 47% of the energy delivered to its surface by the sun in an average year. This is 500 times more energy than we use in a given year. Geothermal systems tap into this clean and sustainable heat source.

Geothermal energy is used to heat your building in the winter and cool it during the summer months. You can use the removed hot air during those summer months as a free source of hot water.

How does geothermal energy work? A ground source heat pump is an electrically powered system that uses this stored energy of the earth to heat and/or cool a space. Geothermal heat pump systems consist of three parts: the ground heat exchanger, the heat pump unit, and the air delivery system (ductwork). The heat exchanger is a system of pipes called a loop, which is buried in the shallow ground near the building. A fluid (usually water or a mixture of water and antifreeze) circulates through the pipes to absorb or relinquish heat within the ground.

Utilitze Geothermal Energy

There are several types of ground heat exchangers that can be made to utilize geothermal energy, but they all fall under two basic categories, closed loop and open loop.

Cost Effective – Durable – Low Maintenance

Year Round Comfort – Quiet Operation
